Our first newsletter of 2019 is here. With winter comes dangerously cold temperatures. Be sure your pets are INSIDE, even if they normally deal with the elements outdoors. The wind chills this winter have been extremely dangerous to man & beast alike. A dog who likes snow and/or cold isn’t equipped to judge the dangers, you are so it is up to you to be human in the equation.
UPDATE ON STEVIE NICK: Stevie Nicks has been adopted by one of our followers who saw her story on our Facebook page. She lives with a lady and her nephew & the smile on her face attested to the fact that she is one very happy dog. Thank you everyone who donated and/or shared her story.
We have raised 80% of our goal in our Facebook fundraiser. If you are on Facebook, please consider donating whatever you can, no amount is too big or too small. We appreciate you continued support. It makes it possible for us to continue helping rescues like Handsome Dan Rescue from which Stevie Nicks was adopted. Thank you so much. The link to the fundraiser is:
If you are not on Facebook, but would like to make a donation, mail your check/money order, made payable to Paws & Claws Fur Ever and address it to: Paws & Claws, P O Box 390215, Omaha, NE 68139
That’s our report. We will be putting together ideas for fundraiser for rescues over the next few weeks, so be sure to check back for future editions.
Until next time, Nanci
Our 4th edition of Paw Prints is here. We are into the 2018 Holiday Season and we hope you are enjoying this festive season. There are some important things to keep in mind for your pet’s safety this season. We’ve added them to our page on Facebook. Be sure to take a few moments and check them out…many have to do with foods that can be toxic to pets.
Paws & Claws Fur Ever has a new fundraiser currently on Facebook. We decided it would be beneficial to hold a fundraiser now to cover ALL our 2019 operating expenses (apprx $700) so that EVERY SINGLE DOLLAR raised during 2019 will go to help the animals. The fundraiser got off to a great start, but then stalled with first the Thanksgiving holiday and then all the other fundraisers hitting social media. Our fundraiser will continue through the New Year. Donate what you can (no donation is too small) and share the fundraiser with others. As always we deeply appreciate your support.
Wishing you a wonderful, happy holiday season and the very best in the New Year. This is our last newsletter of 2018. See you next year.
Until Next Time – Nanci
Our third edition of Paw Prints is here. We have some updates, so here goes:
- A new GoFundMe campaign has begun. We are raising money to go toward the fees needed to register as a 501(c)3 organization under IRS rules. This designation will open opportunities that will allow us to better serve the rescues/no-kill shelters in saving/re-homing dogs and cats. Please check the GoFundMe page at: https://tinyurl.com/ybq36zrg If you are able to donate, please do. Please share our page with others to help spread the word.
- In 2019, we will be holding quarterly General Membership meetings in conjunction with the Executive Board Meetings. The dates, times and locations will be posted on our Paws & Claws Fur Ever Member Group on Facebook. If you are in the Omaha area, stop by and join us.
- We are in the process of setting up member advisory committees. Information is posted on the Facebook Paws & Claws Fur Ever Member Group. To join the group, you must be a follower of Paws & Claws Fur Ever on their Facebook page.
Those are our updates for this issue. Please remember our GoFundMe page. Next issue will be uploaded in about 4 weeks. We’ll have information on Executive Board assignments and a really sweet way to enjoy your holiday goodies and help the animals at the same time.
Until next time, thank you for your continued support. – Nanci
This is the second online edition of Paw Prints (scroll down for early edition).
We are happy to report that the summer fundraiser raised a combined total of over $350. We are so grateful for the support of our followers and friends. Because of your support we were able to make a $100 contribution to a fund to cover the medical costs for a sweet pea by the name of Stevie Nicks at the Handsome Dan Rescue. Because of those who donated to her medical fund, she is now doing amazingly well..with only very minor remaining issues that are being treated successfully. More importantly, Stevie Nicks is now available for adoption. We are sending our good wishes and hope that her journey continue and find her in a loving forever home. Meet Stevie Nicks…
There is now a Paws & Claws Fur Ever Member Group on Facebook for those who would like to become more active and participate in P&C4E events and board meetings. If you are interested in joining, check it out. To join you must also follow the Paws & Claws Fur Ever page on Facebook. Again, please understand this is not a passive group. Members are expected to participate in whatever way possible considering their location. If you have any questions or concerns, as always, you can contact us at: firstname.lastname@example.org
In September, we will be publishing our Executive Board meeting schedule for the remainder of 2018 and the first half of 2019 with a suggested list of agenda topics.
At this time, it is our hope to have one online fundraiser event before the end of the year. We will have more details as the plans come together. We hope we can rely on your continued support.
Until the next time, thank you all with a special thanks to our fabulous Board of Directors, Cherie Clark, Cheryl Montgomery & Bill Clark.
This is our first online edition of Paw Prints, the Paws & Claws Fur Ever newsletter.
July 5th – Omaha, NE Freddy’s Fundraiser was very hectic. The restaurant had recently changed policy on fundraisers requiring that those buying food, drink or frozen custard & wanting their purchase to be credited to the fundraiser had to tell that to the cashier when paying for their order. Well, it seems that the drive-thru cashier ignored those instructions thinking that at the end of the evening, all sales would added. Not the case. As a result we were denied drive-thru sales credit and probably didn’t receive full credit for dine-in orders either, since it appeared at least one cashier didn’t know how to note the fundraiser when ringing sales. It appears we raised less than $80 for the 4 hours spent canvassing diners and drive-thru patrons. We will not return to the Millard Freddy’s anytime soon.
July 3 – Aug 5 – GoFundMe Fundraiser A GoFundMe page has been set up to raise money for a special project. We will be using donations raised on this page to cover adoption costs for long-time residents of the Handsome Dan Rescue in RI in memory of the dog for whom the rescue is named. Handsome Dan was the youngest of the Vicktory dogs rescued from a dog fighting ring operated by Michael Vick & his partners. Their rescue and subsequent second chance changed the way survivors of dog fighting are evaluated. Last week, Danimal (as he was called) crossed Rainbow Bridge. His family continues to run the rescue that bears his name. Please consider donating what you can to this special project. You can find the GoFundMe page at: gf.me/u/jkchit As always if you prefer, you can mail a check/money payable to Paws & Claws Fur Ever, P O Box 390215, Omaha, NE 68139. Please indicate that the donation is to be credited to the Adoption Project.
We are still looking to do an auction and shirt sale later this year. Details will be announced as they are completed.
Thank you for your continued support. A special thanks to our fabulous Board of Directors, Cherie Clark, Cheryl Montgomery & Bill Clark.
Until next time — Nanci
